Thanks to the hard work of the jacweb steering committee, chair Annette Galli Jones is proud to announce that the Cluster has met the requirements of the grant and jacweb will receive $15,000 to undertake activities for the community web site.
This grant would not be possible without the efforts of Mary Anderson, David Courts, Sam Crawford, Margaret Delaney, Melodea Farley, Regina Ghearing, Bill and Jo Hudgins, Jennifer Jacobs, Annette Galli Jones, Gary and Robin Keller, Sharon Moles, and Judy Volrath who gave up six Saturday’s in the last year to attend workshops sponsored by Kellog. Their time commitment made it possible for jacweb to meet the grant criteria and obtain the funding.
The first task for the Committee is to hire a project coordinator to conduct the activities of the grant. This part time, six-month contract position will be required to spend twelve to fifteen hours per week revamping the jacweb site, arranging the move to a new server, and coordinating the public training jacweb proposes to do with the grant funds.
The job description for the position can be found here.
Applications will be accepted no later than May 15th, 2000 and should be mailed to Gary Keller PO Box 335, Jackson, OH 45640. You may also email questions and your letter of application. Applications should state background and experience, suitability for the position, ability to conduct activities in the job description, and three professional references.
Once the steering committee hires a project coordinator they will begin the activities supported by the MIRA grant. They intend to build e-commerce websites for three to five local businesses, revamp and rebuild the existing web site, and conduct public web training. These activities will unfold over the next six months.
Citizens are encouraged to volunteer their time and skills and join jacweb in bringing Jackson County into the future. The next steering committee meeting will be Tuesday, May 9th at the OVAL building in Wellston at 6:30 pm. For more information concerning jacweb, email the webmaster.
